The fourths went into this match with a strong side and were confident that they could improve upon their league position, following a couple of good results.

The absence of a referee meant that captain Sergio Tache had to fill in.

The first half was dominated by RBBFC, with plenty of chances, including Norton coming close with a long-range free-kick, but unfortunately none were converted. A goal against the run of play meant that the home side were unlucky to go in to the half time break a goal down. However, due to their domination of possession and having more chances, the fourths were confident they could turn it around in the second half.

The second half went much more the way of the fourths. The equalizer came when McDermott played the ball across the opposition goal area which Fitzgibbon finished into the bottom left-hand corner. This proved to be a real turning point in the game, as good, continued pressure by the fourths resulted in a what could only be described as a terrible sliced shot by McDermott which was fortunately deflected its way past the Trinquant keeper and into the back of the net.

Things then became tense as Trinquant mounted something of a fight back, but strong defending from the back four, notably Schromberg, and some good goalkeeping from Giunti kept the score at 2-1.

The game was made safe close to the final whistle when RBBFC were awarded a penalty for a hand ball by one of the Trinquant defenders. This decision clearly did not make Tringuant happy, Sergio getting the brunt of it all. Fitzgibbon stepped up and slotted it home, making the result certain.

Eventual MOM Jolliffe controlled the midfield, and other mentions must go to Fitzgibbon, Schromberg and Giunti in goal, whole stood out especially in an overall excellent performance by the fourths, who gained their first win of 2006.

On the whole everyone played an excellent game.
