Match report

2nds celebrate too early giving away all points at home

Marcello Salvarani(Man of the Match)

RBBFC2 - Chenois SC 1 3-4

On a unusually warm Saturday afternoon, the 2nd team did not manage to change the negative trend of the last weeks and lost the 4th match in a row against Chenois SC 1.

The first minutes of the match looked particularly promising though. The squad appeared well organized, with a solid defense well supported by the midfield, always ready to launch our rapid forwards. Overall, the team played a great first half creating many occasions, finalizing three of them with Ian Vollbracht scoring twice and Timme Doessing scoring one, but letting the opposition score two (fortunate) goals. Interesting incident towards the end of the first 35 minutes. The opposition’s keeper suddenly decided to leave the field, throwing his glows to the ground without listening to his team mates that begged him to come back. Looking back, we should have capitalised on the confusion this event created by scoring another goal.

During the break we looked confident in bringing the 3 points home. We probably ended up being too confident. In the second half we simply stopped playing football, no more nice coral plays, just long balls to the front. We were so scared to endure another goal that we started playing too close to our box, lacking the fitness to counterattack. All this led to the other team scoring two more goals towards the mid half. That was it. Our reaction generated just a few scrambles in the opposition’s box, with a clear penalty not granted. For sure not enough after all the good football shown in the first half.

For next week, we need to learn from our mistakes in the second half and train train train, I am sure that when fitness will improve, results will follow.
