A disappointing result for Vets 2

It was a bitterly cold afternoon when the Irish came to Rosiere with temperatures plummeting to -1C. I must say George looked resplendent in his ABBA inspired ear muffs. However, tempers were raised in the dressing room when Patricio retreated from the subs bench before kickoff - a move that would cost us later in the day and as Tony will find out, it cost a horse it’s head!. In addition, Peter’s valuables were left in the changing room rather being put in the valuable bag – let that be a lesson to all of us - plus Chris nearly got fired after someone accidently swapped his Blackberry for theirs!

Icy conditions underfoot caused havoc with Tony’s hamstrings in the first half, resulting in Peter replacing him as sweeper. Jimmy on the other hand had to grin and bear it in the second half after coming on for Jack and could not go off as Baz had already come on for Adi.

As for the football, it was a good natured match and we were basically beaten by a better team who had a couple of ringers from their Vets 1 side since they had a bye. Their key player scored both of their goals in the first half before Chris smashed home a shot just prior to half time following a classy build up.

Second half RBBFC had much more of the possession leaving Riggers in goal swinging from the cross bar with his bunch of bananas. Nevertheless despite their short and portly goalie, we were not able to capitalize and 2 minutes before the end got caught out with a suicide back pass resulting in their third goal.
