With spirits and confidence up high due to a remarkable start of the season and the sweet promises of an ice bath and free beers after the match (thanks Ian), RBBFC1 embarked on yet another "it’s gonna be tough” match. Seeing the lousy warm-up however, the interested observer might have wondered, was confidence even too high?

As soon as the first whistle blew however, the answer was to be found on the pitch. The switch was turned and RBBFC1 dominated the match. Rock solid defence and powerful on the counter attack were the key ingredients. This time however, the last crucial pass just didn’t want to find a taker. Wait, that’s not true, the Panda was found once and in all his excitement for the frosty bath after the match, coolly slotted it wide left...

Clearly, what the Brits needed was a set piece. And they got one. The rest of the story is already a classic. Rich spins it beyond the second post, Nils heads the ball back in the middle, Steve’s that one crucial moment faster than the opponent’s goalie and on the rebound, who might have guessed, Ed, who puts it solidly home with his left foot. Wunderbar!

The second half started much the same way as the first one ended. Chances were scarce and the British defence was aiming at the record for most headers in a match. Franchement, the interested observer was probably quite bored. Even the praised British counter attack specialists led by Endre on the left and Robbie on the right just couldn’t get through. And if they did, Thomas’ problems with (ABSSA) offside denied them a clear chance.

As time went by, LXG had to open up which gave the British more space in offence. They looked sharper now, eager to decide the match. Luca came on strong from the bench, doing what he does best, flicking and toying around with the ball. It didn’t take him long to make his mark on the game by an incredible pitch opening pass to Thomas who controlled the ball around 30m in front of the goal. Confronted by an incredible amount of possibilities (Endre was going for a run on the left, Luca and Rich coming in strong from the right), Thomas seemed confused. Not really knowing what to do, he pulled right and scored a goal! Herrlich!

In the final minutes the Brits made sure that LXG didn’t even think about the possibility of coming back in this match. RBBFC1 stayed focussed and composed. An incredibly far flung free kick from the half way line from Didi was received by Thomas in the box who nailed it towards the second post where Luca was already waiting in excitement for his first goal of the season. Großartig!
