A performance that remembered last year's strength allows RBBFC to keep climbing on the table

Line-up: Puig, Friedrichs, Rossi, Gunter, Garrido (Pellegry), Lo Presti, Belalij (Skoniezki), McGirr, Godefroid (Wetzel), Henriquez, Deschamps

It's Saturday, we play on our lovely home pitch, it's not raining... Today is a good day.

Today's opposition is the "sparkling" team of Etincelle (yeah Ali, look it up). This should be a tough fight as they are above RBBFC in the ranking. A win would result in us going above them (literally too). Today marks also the return of RBBFC's prodigal son, the lost hero, Pat! (being leader of MOM's in 2nd team history however is not enough, he will start on the bench. Puig is serious).

Another man is on the return, he's got a pineapple on his head, he's brazilian, I give you the GREAT...what... oh nevermind..

We play in the now established 4-3-3 with a defense run by the Italian mafia. Garrido and Friedrichs just need to align (and eventually learn italian). Stef learned it the hard way: "Simone..Simone!.. Simo.. SIMONE CAZZOOO!!!!". (Stef looks at his feet..ashamed..)

The first 15min are clearly in favour of Etincelle. They are all over the place but the first good opportunity comes from the RBBFC side. After a good combination in the midfield, McGirr launches a chirurgical through ball (one that would make visionary Legere proud) to Godefroid who finds himself, after a good run, in front of the keeper. But as the latter comes out of his box to close the angle, Godefroid has the brilliant (but ambitious) idea to chip it over the goalie and it ends up over the.. goal. This has the merit to wake up the whites and we start to make the ball circulate a little more.

And then...at exactly 3:53 pm, it happened...With again a perfect pass from Alistair "MyGirl" McGirr, Deschamps finds himself at the edge of the box, back to the goal.. Godefroid is on the right in the most perfect position to finish it and he is screaming and screaming.. Henriquez is on the other side in an even more ideal situation (he doesn't scream though. Horacio is serious). But Deschamps turns and now faces the goal, the ball on his left-foot... the rest is history (GOAL, Deschamps 1-0).

Not long after this, Garrido , still trying to figure out how we score these kind of goals, decides that the only way is to follow the steps of Deschamps and steps on his own ankle (as only the best strikers do). Result: Ankle sprain, grade-II aka "the best kind"(I'm sorry...please recover soon!). Enters revenant Pellegry with the quickest and most efficient warm-up in RBBFC's history.

It's half-time, the whites have been under pressure but are holding the fort. The Italian entente has allowed them to stay above water.

[Reporter: Simone, how come you and Gunter are playing so well together?

Simone: Eeh you wouanna know the segret four a perfecta relazioneship?

Reporter: Yes please!

Simone: It's simpell, every time Gunter tocca the ball, you joust yell "GRAAAAANDE GUUUNTEEEERRRR, CHE BELLISSIMO" and he starts eh running like a bambino! ]

After Capitano's speech, RBBFC2 know they will have to score again if they want to secure this game. And the second half is much better! Etincelle's spirit is slowly starting to "explode". Rossi is having a love/hate relationship with their striker, Deschamps has a hate/hate relationship with his defender and McGirr..well.. Ali just loves his captain. "ali, ALI, ALI!! F*** off Marc!!" (bench?). This being said, the whites are oppressing the opposition and it becomes clear that they will never score against us. In order to just suffocate them even more, Puig makes a few changes: Belalij is out, after having run like a raging dog for 50min, Pat the hero is back! We can directly see that although his new life is only composed of ski and apfelstrudel, he has not lost his football. After several good moves in the midfield with McGirr and LoPresti, Skoniezki makes a perfect soft through ball to Deschamps who tries to run pass the keeper. He is tackled from behind by his favourite defender but stays up and tries his chance on goal. He misses... But the English ref, an amateur of good football, appreciates the fact that Deschamps did not fall down, for the beauty of the sport, and goes back to the foul. It's a penalty. Deschamps looks around for Godefroid who has been practising penalties for most of the pre-game warm-up, but can only see Gunter the vulture.. But the Eldest, in great wisdom, lets the youngest take it. (GOAL, Deschamps 2-0)

The rest of the game will be easy with the whites controlling and pushing back the weak attacks of Etincelle. Unfortunately, we could not capitalize on our numerous counter-attacks led by our own Wetzel, having replaced Godefroid a few minutes earlier. A special mention to an indescribable fail from Wetzel at the end of the game. He will gladly explain to you what he wanted to do if you ask him.

It's a really good result as we make a jump in the table to the 5th position! Next week, we face WELL TEAM who beat us in Boisfort in early January.. REVENGE!!
